Wall braces or wall anchors?
The useful distinction is how each system restrains the wall, where it needs space, and which connections and site conditions must be designed.

Selection framework
Six facts the proposal should resolve.
A system drawing is more useful than a product nickname. It should show how the wall is restrained and where the load goes.

Wall material and condition
Concrete, concrete masonry, stone, brick, and altered assemblies do not create the same connection details. Cracking, displacement, deterioration, and prior repair should be recorded.

Movement pattern
Map where the wall is displaced and how it changes from floor to framing. The visible shape alone does not establish the cause.

Exterior access and soil
For anchors, identify excavation access, utilities, property constraints, and the proposed anchor zone. For either system, investigate water and lateral soil conditions that remain outside the stabilization scope.

Interior connections
For braces, show the bottom and top restraint and the structure receiving the load. For anchors, document the interior plate and through-wall connection.

Stabilization or correction
Preventing further movement and attempting to change the wall position are different outcomes. The proposal should state the intended result and its limits.

Design and field record
Ask who is responsible for the design, what code and product documents apply, what inspections are required, and what installation details will be retained.
Cause boundary
Stabilizing the wall does not automatically correct the pressure source.
Concrete masonry guidance treats lateral pressure, drainage, waterproofing, reinforcement, and structural support as related design conditions. The repair scope should say which water, grading, soil, or drainage work is included and which condition remains separate.
